"...both the Wilson and the FDR administrations were descendants - albeit distant ones - of the first fascist movement: the French Revolution...It produced the first modern dictators, Robespierre and Napoleon, and worked on the premise that the nation had to be ruled by an enlightened avant-garde who would serve as the organic, authentic voice of the 'general will.'...Robespierre summed up the totalitarian logic of the Revolution: 'There are only two parties in France: the people and its enemies. We must exterminate those miserable villains who are eternally conspiring against the right of man...[W]e must exterminate our enemies.'"
1999- Columbine High School massacre: Eric Harris and Dylan Klebold kill 13 people and injure 24 others before committing suicide at Columbine High School in Columbine, Colorado (Source)
The father of one of the victims of Columbine later wrote the following poem:
"Your laws ignore our deepest needs
Your words are empty air
You’ve stripped away our heritage
You’ve outlawed simple prayer
Now gunshots fill our classrooms
And precious children die
You seek for answers everywhere
And ask the question 'Why?'
You regulate restrictive laws
Through legislative creed
And yet you fail to understand
That God is what we need"

I heard one pastor say the following: "You may not like guns, and you may not like God. But if someone is breaking into your house the first thing you're going to do is call someone who has a gun. And the next thing you're going to do is pray that they get there in time!"
